Oh, I don’t have a side bar! I have an under bar. This is the video where it becomes evident I have no idea how to edit – it’s choppy in about four spots. However, Animal Welfare is one of the most important issues in life, so I uploaded it. My memory is not the best, and there is no way I am re-doing this video – I spent enough time on it as it is! I think then, it would be all right to eat eggs from a local farmer where you can see a few chickens running around. I still won’t buy them from the grocery store because of the conditions of chickens on the large farms. But maybe I can get that “embryo” thought out of my mind now . . . maybe . . . . Thanks for the information!
I got to thinking about the egg concept – that eating scrambled eggs is like eating scrambled embryos – and it’s not quite correct. In fact, if an egg is unfertilized, it has no chance of developing an embryo. An egg is just a protein soup – nutrients and building blocks from which an embryo can form, given the introduction of a complete, live cell (from fertilization). It is as much food for the cell/embryo as it is food for anything that eats it, but is ultimately robbed from the chicken.
Yay!
I’m going to have to set aside an area on my computer for JamesMorlan quotes.
Conversely, the opposite is true as well – the power of positive thinking can bring about very positive things.
Didn’t mean to be such a downer.
It’s just something I hope human kind can get past before we pass a point of no return. It just seems the totality of religious prophecy is self-fulfilling. There is no greater destructive power than the power of belief in destructive ideas.
I hope I stay enthusiatic too! I joined a few animal rights groups and am already writing letters and signing petitions – that sort of thing. It always seems like one tiny voice against the masses, but I know there are more and more people joining the fight for animal welfare every day. I wonder if they have statistics about vegetarians/atheists – I’ll have to look that up! Glad you are vegetarian too – that’s great! My mom was one for 30 years- I didn’t even know it for most of that time!
You have all the enthusiasm of a new vegetarian! I love to see that….I hope it lasts. I’ve been a vegetarian for about 5 years now and I must say that I don’t argue it with the same zeal I used to….especially with my close family and friends. I’ve taken the “don’t bother me and I won’t bother you” stance, it’s just less of a headache.
It’s also interesting to see how many more atheists are vegetarian vs. the average population.
When I read your comment, at first I just thought, “Well, what a downer!’ Then I realized that this is one of the most profound and true statements of all time. I’ll probably copy your comment and keep it to use sometime (referencing JamesMorlan as author, of course)! So sad a few words have caused so much harm.
Oh, okay. It sounded good too, darn! I wonder if their pies are vegan – I’m sure there is a web site somewhere that will tell me. I’ll have to look it up. I’m just amazed that some form of animal product goes into just about everything. It will take a lot longer at the grocery store now, because I have to read every label! Thanks!
Just so you know BK’s veggie burger has milk in it, it’s vegetarian but not vegan. They used to have a spicy bean burger that was vegan but they got rid of it.
The most damaging words ever written were those in the bible about us having dominion over animals. This attitude that the Earth is this gift that we are free to consume most assuredly ensures that we are doomed.
No, I didn’t. My mom used to get a veggie burger somewhere, and I just thought they did away with the item in fast food restaurants because I never saw it advertised. I think I asked at McDonalds and the employees just looked at me like they had never heard of such a thing. I’ll check it out!
Did you know BK has a veggie burger? Many places do but don’t advertise it on the menu.
