  1. I needed a filler item, so I figured I’d get some food as I’d be sure to use it. Wrong.

This “soup” is atrocious. It has a sweet strangeness to its taste that is unbearable. And it never quite shakes the underlying taste of water. There are chunks of soup base that never get dissolved no matter how much you stir or heat it. The pasta bits and beans have a powdery texture. All in all, it’s pretty bad.

    I don’t know what I was expecting from 100 calorie ready-to-eat vegan soup, but… I was disappointed.

  2. Other people seemed to like this soup so I don’t know what gives but it tasted so bad. I had to force myself to finish the cup. I like some of the other McDougall cups but this one was awful.

  3. I enjoyed this soup. Came close to the taste of canned versions of this kind of soup. Relatively unique flavor compared to the usual supermarket products of this type. Will buy it again.

  4. I’m eating a cup of this soup as I type this. It’s handy to have in the office, it keeps me from running out to buy something deep-fried or cream-filled, and it really isn’t bad. But it’s not my favorite Dr. McDougall’s soup. It has a slightly bitter edge that I don’t care for, the kind you sometimes get from dried herbs that have been sitting too long (the use-by date is a year from now), and at the same time it seems too sweet. The first thing my wife said about it when she tried hers a few minutes ago was, “too sweet,” so it’s not just me (and she likes food sweeter than I do). We won’t throw the rest of the box away, but I won’t be ordering this one again. If I’m going to give up a trip to my favorite bakery to eat soup in my office, I want it to be better than not bad.

  5. I’ve enjoyed almost all McDougall’s product but this new line of “light sodium” is a bit of a scam. Mainly they just decreased the serving size to meet the criteria.
