  1. now, i love alot of the other dr. mcdougall’s noodle cups, but this one is just bad. it doesn’t taste like pad thai at all. it doesn’t even taste good. i’m giving it two stars because, yes, it was simple to make and it’s pretty healthy…other than that, i think i’m being very generous. try the Miso flavor! it’s *much* better!

  2. My husband and I love pad thai so I thought I’d give this a try. Boy am I glad I did … I cannot believe how good this is! The flavor is outstanding, just the right amount of spices and the noodles are delicious. We dump the whole flavor packet in the cup but the flavor packet is separate from the noodles, so you can control how much flavoring you put in. I am stunned that something that’s healthy and vegan can taste this good. It’s also very filling.

It’s easy to make: open the lid, then open the spice packet inside and pour that over the noodles, pour in boiling water to top, stir. Let it sit about 3 minutes and enjoy.

  3. Thin, not especially flavorful, and inconvenient to prepare. I can’t understand the enthusiastic reviews for this product. I love Thai food and this was a disappointment.

  4. A great gluten-free product that’s easy to take to work – and really enjoy! My office mate’s about to buy her own, and she doesn’t even have Celiac Disease!

  5. I have to agree with the other naysayers on this one. It has an odd flavor to it and I suspect it’s because of the fruit powders – I think the tamarind powder gives it the weird flavor/aftertaste. I think I would like this a lot more if that were absent.

I don’t know much about Thai cooking but others are saying it doesn’t taste like Pad Thai anyway, so removal of what may be a Thai ingredient (tamarind) isn’t going to make sales go down.

There’s still the standard good stuff that stands for most McDougall varieties. You get a lot of it, it’s convenient and great to have around at the office for a more healthy-than-the-vending machine snack. I suspect it would be more satisfying too, nice and hot soup mmm!

So, I won’t be buying it again. May I recommend the Spring Onion Noodle Soup? That is a very tasty one to buy in lieu of this variety.
